We typically work with our subcontractors for all of our formed walls and slab needs. Recently, we have started doing our own ICF (insulated concrete forms). This allows our crew to build literally from the ground up, which is truly rewarding.
We also work with a local craftsman who produces amazing interior concrete finishes. Acid etching, grinding, staining concrete floors, light fixtures, wall coverings, stairs, and concrete counter tops are among his contributions. Regardless of the task at hand, his crew thinks outside the box – pushing the limits and the traditional uses of concrete. We are excited to offer this and many other unique services.
We typically do all of our own asphalt and cedar shake roofs. When it comes to standing seam, we work with several crews to help facilitate our client’s project needs. We have done some really exciting things recently with standing seam roofing such as: super complex roof lines, fascia trim details and dormer siding.
We also have a great relationship with craftsmen specializing in copper roofs, slate roofs, and rubber roofs. The roof is the first line of defense from whatever weather comes our way and we take great care in getting it done right.
Full Exterior Carpentry
Often, all a building needs is a facelift. We love taking an old weathered and dated exterior and stripping it down and creating an entirely new look. We also have experience with full historical restorations.
We install all types of siding from wood clapboards, shiplap and shakes to more modern PVC rain screens. There are many different exterior options available these days. Sometimes our clients want an exterior that has low maintenance in which case we will often suggest and install cement board siding. For low maintenance trim options we recommend PVC or Boral poly ash trim for fascia, soffits, and window and door kits.
If you want a more natural and warm exterior, we often suggest cedar, spruce, pine or hemlock. We install all windows and doors to make sure they function and are waterproofed to our standards.
A deck is where we have some of our best moments in New England’s beautiful summer and fall. There is something gratifying to us about building a deck for families to enjoy for years to come.
We have done some amazing custom design and work when it comes to building decks. We take care in setting our supports and beams right so nothing moves in the extreme season changes. We use some very low impact procedures to get our posts in the ground so as not to disturb the surrounding landscaping.
We do custom built-ins with benches, storage and railings made of metal, wood, or stainless steel. Clients in the past have opted for PVC or composite decking, cedar, mahogany, and a variety of tropical hardwoods. Stairs are another place where we can really put some custom flare into a deck whether a straight set, a spiral or a waterfall design.
In some cases, the vision of the client is extensive and an architect is needed for expert advice on how to complete the project. We want to ensure that there are no surprises during construction. With complex designs, we use an architect and designer. We work with several Architectural firms and some independent designers. We can recommend certain companies based on your style, needs and — most important — your budget.
